You Don't Have To Be OverweightIt is easy to accept fat as a normal state of being but it isn’t, nature did not design us to be fat, or the health problems that exist for obesity would not exist. Mother Nature designed us to be lean mean efficient machines and that is what you are about to become. Mother Nature did however give the food industry a helping hand, she inadvertently gave us an appetite for three food types Sugars, Salt and Fats. In evolutionary terms these where all pretty hard to come by until very recently, if you killed a nice fatty animal you were likely to have a feast, similarly if you came across a large berry patch, remember preservation of foods was perfected only recently considering the enormity of the time-line. Salt was even harder than all the rest and would probably have triggered some sort of feasting. Anyway the result is that for some of us these foods trigger us to overeat and the food industry has learnt to combine them in ways that send us into overdrive. Look at the doughnut made from flour fat fried in more fat with sugar coming out of its orifices; I am getting myself into a state just writing about it. Most diets including some of the huge institutions like Weight Watchers tell you that you should be allowed a treat, and they actually list processed deserts they just don’t get it. The treat just makes you want more and before you know it you have done the packet and you are riddled with guilt and self-loathing, why do you think doughnuts come in packs of 10. Honestly thin people even if they are doctors should not write weight loss programs. They may know the amounts of calories required losing or gaining weight and they may know the most nutritious foods but they have no idea why we break the rules. They cannot have or they would not write such rubbish. We have to change the way we reward ourselves and examine what foods we really do like, when I first thought about what is my favourite food I jumped to strong cheeses and then to Cheesecake, but a little while later probably as a result of my good lady handing me one, I ate a very succulent and juicy Pear, I immediately realised that far from the foods I had been thinking of, this was truly food from the Gods. These are the real foods that nature designed us to crave not the processed rubbish we force down our necks, succulent fruits are the real treats they taste nice to us for a reason, nature has taught our bodies to recognise goodness. That the food industry has learned to manipulate this is little short of evil. But we must not blame them for our overeating we must take responsibility for our own actions.
